Hello, my name is Stephen Snow,

I am the former owner of the Center for New Media and the Arts, which was located on the second floor of The Opera House building at 182 Greenwood Avenue in Bethel, CT. Subsequently I served as the Artistic Director for the Palace Theatre.

I would be interested in talking to someone about your efforts to bring the arts to the Newtown Community. Bravo! It’s always good to see a community come together to support the arts, and I believe I could be helpful should you need and want my assistance. My website (which I built) is: http://www.stephensnow.net. My phone number is: 203-788-2378.

I would be very interested in talking to the Commission leaders.

    Wishing you all the best.

    Sincerely,

    Stephen Snow

      Hello Stephen,

We would like to invite you to come to our regular meetings which are open to the public. We are meeting this month at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012 in Meeting Room 1 in the Newtown Municipal Center, 3 Primrose St, Newtown. Generally, our meetings are on the fourth Tuesday of each month.

We are also in the process of preparing for our second annual Newtown Arts Festival, Sept. 20 & 21, 2013 at Fairfield Hills, Newtown. We would appreciate your experience in helping to plan, advise or volunteer for this event, if you are interested.

      Thank you,

      Hi Susan,

If you are still interested in finding out more about our commission, you are welcome to attend a regular meeting, which are open to the public. Our meetings are typically on the 4th Tuesday of each month, though we are meeting this month at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 18, 2012 instead of on Christmas day, at the Newtown Municipal Center in Fairfield Hills, 3 Primrose Street, in the large board room at the far end of the building.

Also, if you are an artist and would be interested in showing or selling your works at our next Newtown Arts Festival, September 20 & 21, 2013 at Fairfield Hills, please contact Stacey Olszewski at staceyolszewski@yahoo.com. She is our artist vendor coordinator. You can find all the info about this festival at http://www.newtownartsfestival.com, including our art contest for the annual festival poster. If you’d like to enter, submission deadline is mid-February (see website info) and the them of the entries should be “Iconic Newtown”.

      Thanks for your interest,

      Jennifer Rogers

  3. Ival Stratford-Kovner, MS, MFA says:

    Dear NCAC -
So interested in participating on Commission if there is still a space. I was very active for decades in Masachusetts cultural council mission. I’ve managed exhibitions and conferences for the state – and represented Massachusetts in Washington as well as other venues across the country.
I truly support the arts – and am extremely interested in the future of the arts in Newtown and surrounding areas. – Ival Stratford-Kovner (Bethel resident)
PS Will have a show at Newtown Municipal Center in April 2012 (postponed from “Storm Alfred” – from my NYC Exhibition “Horse Drawn”).
